Collection: Aurora Moissanite Collection
Our finest line. Moissanite set in 925 sterling silver: a stone with a brilliance close to a diamond's, made to be worn every day and kept for years.
What is moissanite?
Moissanite is a gemstone of its own. It was first discovered in 1893 by the French scientist Henri Moissan, in tiny fragments found inside a meteorite crater. Natural moissanite is extremely rare, so the moissanite used in jewelry today is created in a lab, with the same structure as the natural stone.
Moissanite and diamond
Moissanite is not a diamond, and we will never call it one. It is its own stone, and it has qualities that make it a beautiful choice:
- Brilliance: it reflects light with even more fire than a diamond, with flashes of rainbow color in the sun.
- Hardness: 9.25 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond (10). It resists scratches and is made for everyday wear.
- Value: the look of fine jewelry at a much more accessible price.
- A conscious choice: lab-created, with no mining involved.
Care
Clean your moissanite with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Keep your piece away from perfume and lotions, and store it in its pouch so the silver keeps its shine.
